POSITION SUMMARY:

Overseeing all production during the shift from preparing production folders to ensuring that employees are following protocol.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Oversee that all products are pulled, weighed, checked, mixed, blended, dried, and packaged according to formulas, blend sheets, and work sheets. (Including any special requirements)
• Account for production quality in accordance with product specifications and good manufacturing practices
• Trouble shoot and solve operations problems as they arise; isolating problem areas and assisting in developing procedures to resolve them
• Observe how the Operator oversees the duties of co-workers on his/her shift by correcting personnel when necessary as well as making sure their work performance is consistent.
• Assist the Operator in training new personnel so that work is performed in a safe and efficient manner
• Assure that adequate personnel are available for work (, may call in substitute workers when appropriate).
• Recommend people for changes in job appointment, salary increases and promotions
• Enforce company rules and policies, safety and sanitation requirements, and job performance requirements
• Maintain appropriate disciplines of workers on the shift
• Take proper corrective action when necessary
• Perform annual job evaluations of employees
• Ensure Operator’s production records are correct by counting total number of bags produced during the shift and throughout entire production run
• Ensure that finished products are properly labeled and stored in designated areas
• Coordinate with Production manager and Warehouse concerning upcoming production needs
• Supervise cleanup and equipment maintenance
• Inspect dryers for cleanliness
• Maintain the plant in a clean and orderly manner
• Perform duties of sanitation supervisor during the absence of the plant manager
• Secure the building and lock up as required
• Review Quarterly Direct Report Training Records, document completion and file completed training records

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience
• Able to operate a forklift
• Good communication skills, high math and reading skills, high mechanical ability
• Ability to move a minimum of 75 pounds
• Basic knowledge of spray drying
