Hours: up to 8 hours a day, shift dependent on Clubhouse

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Club Director, the Keystone Program Support Specialist (PSS) provides day-to-day oversight of Boys & Girls Club programs and activities facilitated at Kestone Elementary
School in the Central Valley School District, supports YDP staff with key Clubhouse and program duties which help reach Club attendance and impact goals with particular emphasis on academic support and enrichment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or at least two years college coursework in education, recreation, or other youth development-oriented field.
  • Two or more years of progressive experience in youth development and program implementation.
  • Experience in working with children.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Commitment to be part of an environment that encourages member interaction and engagement, recognizes youth for their accomplishment, and promotes relationships through the facilitation of recreational and educational programs.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR
  • Food Handlers Permit, or willingness to obtain within first month of hire.
  • Minimum age of 21.

  • Boys & Girls Club knowledge/experience.
  • Experience planning and leading one or more of the Club program targeted areas: health and fitness, arts and crafts, STEM, performing arts, education support including college and career readiness, leadership, and teen programming

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Support the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County.
  • Serve as a positive adult role model in behavior and attitude.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of youth ages 4-12.
  • Ability to motivate youth and use positive behavior management techniques.
  • Understanding of elementary school operations.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, manage multiple tasks, and develop solutions to problems within the Clubhouse.
  • Ability to understand and apply directions quickly.
  • Ability to communication clearly and professionally with participants, parents/guardians, Club staff, school administrators, faculty and staff, and program partners as needed.
  • Understand the developmental needs of youth.
  • Ability to work with regular exposure to environmental conditions.
  • Endurance to maintain consistent and effective supervision of campers with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to accompany campers in program areas and on excursions (as assigned).

Essential Duties:
At the direction of the Club Director,

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates programs designed for youth.
  • Supports staff with implementation and evaluation of activities and programs that align with youth development, staff, YPQ and BGCA best practices, including coordination of daily set up and clean up, supply procurement, and facilitation of daily meal/snack.
  • Maintain positive, friendly, and professional interactions with Club employees and volunteers.
  • Works in partnership with 21st Century Learning Center grant Program Director and Shiloh Hills

Elementary staff to support achievement of grant deliverables.

  • Supports external contacts with Mead School District and partnering agencies, member families and others as directed by the Club Director.
  • Assist with resolution of member discipline issues.
  • Collect/inputs attendance and program participation data, including collection of BGCSC

Membership Applications and daily program attendance.

  • Accompany and supervise members on excursions as assigned.
  • Assist in the implementation of staff development and participates in scheduled staff trainings and meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure Clubhouse safety guidelines are met to support the health and safety of members and staff.
  • Provide site-based leadership in an emergency.
  • Assist in completing reports as needed.
  • Participate in special programs and/or events when assigned.
  • Assist in daily Club maintenance
  • Opening and closing duties as assigned
  • Serve as a mentor to youth.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Physical Aspects of the Position:

  • The ability to see, hear, sit, mobility to stand, walk, run, reach and bend, twist, stoop, able to lift at least 20 pounds, climb stairs, hand dexterity to grab small objects.
  • Endurance to maintain consistent and effective supervision of members with enthusiasm.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time.

Working Conditions:
The Keystone Program Support Specialist shall spend time at their assigned Clubhouse to provide guidance and support to staff members and community volunteers who implement programs and activities for Club members. A daily presence during part or all of program hours is critical. Working hours may vary depending on activities and events, but generally scheduled from 1-6:00p.m. daily.
Generally during the school year Club hours are weekdays between 3– 6pm. and during the summer,
Club hours are weekdays between 9am-6pm
