Structural Steel, Crane, and Rigging Superintendent
Structural / Cranes / Rigging Superintendent
The Structural / Cranes / Rigging Superintendent is involved directly with the performance of the structural erection, setting of equipment, and most activities involving lifting activities.
As such, the SCR Supt assists with coordinating equipment usage and other logistics – all in accordance with the schedule. They work closely with the trade superintendents to make sure they have what they need.
Here are a few responsibilities specific to the construction Superintendent:
Ensuring job site is safe and all structural steel framework is being performed correctly.
Qualified To Oversee Hazardous Activity Such As Rigging & Hoisting
Assist with Lift Plan development for Cranes and Rigging, When necessary
Review heavy lift plans and procedures, (NOT APPROVE)
Assist with determining means, methods and structural framework constructability.
Overseeing field workers and onsite subcontractors primarily during steel erection and use of cranes or other equipment.
Experienced in structural steel erection, bolt up, torqueing, dimensional control & racking/ squaring of structure prior to loading with pipework.
The SCR Supt are some of the first to know about an issue, surprise, or change, because they’re actually located where the work is happening and can be there in person. They’re the go-to person on site when something is needed for rigging / lifting.
Due to the experience requirements of overseeing the work, Structural / Cranes / Rigging Superintendents have years of field experience prior to holding this title.
10 years of experience in a Superintendent position is required
10+ years of experience working within Structural / Crane & Rigging disciplines required
