A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AUTOMATION PROJECT ENGINEER

As an Automation Project Engineer, you play an essential role in providing software engineering services to ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet the customer's expectations. You program and test our software while following standard specifications. Based on documents and specifications, you help with the commissioning of our plant control systems. You also develop and implement demanding automation projects as well as hand over systems control to customers and train their staff on usage. For all matters of automation, you provide support to our customer service and sales and quotation groups.

In addition, you participate in internal or external project reviews and meetings as well as organize and participate in debriefing meetings following a project's conclusion. Regarding purchase orders, you prepare all necessary project execution specifications and ensure orders are submitted on time. You also organize documentation for our installation processes and prepare work packages for other locations as needed. During the design, manufacturing, installation, or commissioning phases of each project, you resolve any issues or questions that arise, as well as route more complex issues to leadership.

Using your keen eye for detail, you keep track of our project schedules to ensure tasks are completed on time. As needed, you provide technical support for claim and deviation management. You also participate in continual learning activities and apply practical applications to your work duties. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN AUTOMATION PROJECT ENGINEER

  • Technical or vocational degree from an accredited institution in electrical or automation engineering
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge about PLC and HMI systems, such as siemens or S7 / TIA Portal
  • Basic knowledge about VMware or HyperV
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Rockwell Studio 5000, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, or other software tools
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, and describe them in an understandable way
  • Excellent customer service skills
