Compliance Specialist, NERC

Brookfield Renewable, US is seeking a Compliance Specialist, NERC to join our National System Control Center (NSCC) team assisting the Compliance Manager related to the reliability compliance program, ensuring compliance with Federal and Regional electric system reliability standards (i.e. NERC, NPCC, RFC, SERC, WECC, etc.). The Compliance Specialist will actively assist with enhancement of reliability compliance programs to meet requirements of an expanding generation and transmission asset base. This position reports to the Compliance Manager and is based in Queensbury, New York.

Responsibilities:

· Support reliability compliance policies and procedures under the direction of the Compliance Manager

· Assist Compliance Team and regional operations and NSCC compliance activities

· Strong knowledge of NERC 693 and CIP Standards

· Experience with NERC GO, TO, GOP, TOP functions

· Track and prepare for changes to NERC Standards

· Maintain/implement annual Reliability Compliance schedule/calendar for both generation and transmission assets

· Ensure that Compliance deadlines are met

· Work with Regional Subject Matter Experts to organize and maintain reliability compliance evidence necessary for reporting and audit activities, and create plans for audit preparation and mitigation activities

· Maintain procedure library for NERC Registered Entities as well as electronic document management

· Manage subscriptions and data input for self-certifications with regional reliability organization compliance portals

· Provide training/guidance to operations staff as needed

· Recommend changes and modifications to programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable reliability standards

· Assist with internal and external compliance audits

· Participate in regional reliability organization workshops and seminars

· Participate in Internal Compliance Program (ICP) committees and working groups

Requirements

· BS degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent work experience

· Experience in the electric regulatory industry, particularly transmission and/or generation

· Previous experience with reliability compliance program

· Strong knowledge of NERC compliance standards

· Basic knowledge of electrical generation and transmission processes

· Project Management experience a plus

· Ability to work in a dynamic, fast pace environment and adapt and respond quickly to changing priorities and reliability compliance related urgencies

· Ability to respond change positively

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Highly organized with attention to detail, capable of working in a high-pressure environment

· Team player with ability to work independently and apply individual judgment as required
